The President Obama Dog
Congratulations to Mr Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States. In taking the most powerful job in the civilized world at a time when we are facing a global recession - possibly depression - coupled with unrest in Iran, Afghanistan, the Midddle East and Africa (to name but a few), President Obama has his work cut out. He will be called upon in his first few weeks of office to make a number of monumental decisions. But surely, none can be so eagerly awaited for pet lovers than which type of dog dog will President Obama choose? Mr Obama promised his daughters Sasha, aged 7, and Malia, 10, a dog as a reward for having to put up with the rigors of the presidential campaign. (It can't be easy having to be on your best behavior for months on end when you're only 7 and 10!) The list of breeds in contention was narrowed by Malia's allergy to dogs, making it necessary that the first family pick an allergy-friendly breed. Incredibly there are over 2 dozen breeds regarded as hypoallergenic or non-shedding - and therefore more likely to be suitable for allergy sufferers. President Obama also wants to give some lucky canine a new chance at a good life and plans on adopting a rescue dog. He told ABC: "We're now going to start looking at shelters. " The choice of First Dog (what a great title!) has occupied the mind of pet-loving America for months. It has been the hot topic of conversation for dog lovers everywhere. The AKC (American Kennel Club) ran a poll asking people to vote for the breed of dog they thought would be most suitable for the first family. All of the dogbreeds listed were are hypoallergenic. Amazingly, more than 42,000 Americans voted in the poll! The people's choice was the The Poodle, which was chosen from a list of five hypoallergenic breeds. Although often considered high-maintenance show dogs, Poodles are actually exceptionally smart and athletic. They do well in obedience training. The other breeds involved were: The Bichon Frise - This is a lovely little white curly-coated dog that loves humans. company. They are independent, friendly, intelligent, and lively. The good news is that they don't bark too much. They are pretty easy to train and love everybody. Should get along well with everybody in the White House! The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier - Don't let this dog's scruffy and laid back appearance fool you. This medium sized dog is compact, strong and alert. They bark at new arrivals to the house and make excellent watch dogs. They should get on OK with other dogs, but proper socializing is a must. A suitable candidate for guard duties! The Miniature Schnauzer -walk down the main street of any town in the United States and you are bound to see at least one trotting jauntily along with a proud owner in tow at the end of a trendy leash. These popular little dogs are full of life, love being with people and and want to be at the centre of everything. Would make a great companion for the whole Obama family! But sadly, it is to be none of these. The latest news is that President Obama has narrowed his search to just 2 types of dog. You can find out what they are at http://mydoggiesupplies.com Whichever type of dog the Obama family choose, we should wish the First Dog a long and happy life with lots and lots of walkies. Pet Keepsakes - A Great Way to Protect Your Best Friend's Keepsakes and Memories
There are a lot of new avenues which are emerging in the world of pet-keeping. Apart from the regular stuff the people did for their pets, some heavy petters are really going the distance in proving that they loved their pets. Pet obituaries and memory messages are fast catching up and becoming popular among those who can afford a grave and an incarnation on it. Pet memories gifts are also finding takers among those who find it difficult to get acquainted to with the loss of their beloved pet. For those who want to show the world that they want their pet to depart with total dignity and want their pet's soul to rest in peace, many online obituary and pet-memory sites have propped up, where you can have a dedicated page made in the memory of your pet, with messages, photographs and testimonials attached to it. Apart from obituary site, another avenue that was non-existent in the field of petting was regarding pet-paws. Pet paw ornaments, socks and booties have hit the market with a bash this season. Boots for dogs have been existent for quite some time, but now, boots for cats, rabbits and other domestic animals are also seen providing protection to their otherwise delicate paws. Paw damage can virtually cripple the dog, and becomes all the more important to protect your dog's paws if you live in an area with uncertain object lying on the ground. Broken glasses, nails, stones and thorns can exploit the vulnerability of your pet's feet and therefore, pet booties are a boon in more than one way. There are different varieties of boots available in the market today, be it the normal paw-booties or the ones covering your pet's claws and a larger part of its leg too. The former is good as long as you don't venture out into the woods with your pet, and the latter comes in handy when there are chances of high-raise pointed objects or snakes harming your pet. For a die hard lover of pets, photography and innovation, scrapbooking pets is bound to give a lot of satisfaction. Scrapbooking your pets allow you to see your pup's favorite photograph in a creatively designed frame or scrapbook template. These templates can either be designed by you on a piece of paper, mostly the 'scrap-book' types, or online, using tools like Photoshop, CorelDraw and adobe Illustrator. So, give your template the naughty touch, or the docile one, according to the moods your pet gets in. a good scrapbook template design is that which allows for adequate pictures, or a collage of pictures to be clubbed in with enough space for you and other viewers to leave comments. The template should highlight the moment of the photograph, and its design should complement the same. A lot of people go through their old pet scrapbooks to soothe themselves if their pets depart. It is one of the best ways to keep the memories of your pet alive and to relive them over and over again.
